NASA Seeks Volunteers for a Tougher Fake Mars Mission

NASA is accepting applications for another yearlong Mars simulation at Johnson Space Center that will place participants inside a simulated spacecraft measuring roughly 650 square feet for several months, making portions of the experiment tighter than the agency’s earlier habitat. Eligibility requirements and application information are available through NASA’s official CHAPEA program page.

Montgomery County Considers a $1 Billion Jail

Montgomery County commissioners have chosen a possible site for a new jail and authorized the sheriff to begin seeking an engineering firm for a project estimated at $1 billion, although its final scope, financing and possible November ballot placement remain unsettled. The developing proposal is covered by the Houston Chronicle’s report on the jail plan.

Ringling Bros. Returns to Houston

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey is returning to Houston after roughly a decade with an animal-free show built around acrobatics, stunts and live music, with performances scheduled at NRG Stadium from August 6 through August 9. The event is featured in the Houston Chronicle’s weekly events guide.
